PenNnNnNnsylvania
Friday, July 27th, 2007It has been about a week and a half since I left my home in Avondale, PA, and I am currently in Somerset, PA. I have walked more than 200 miles in 9 days, and I feel great. Aside from short thunderstorms conditions have been perfect for walking with temperatures not exceeding 90 degrees. Since Monday I have been all walking through the mountains, and despite some 3+ mile inclines I have still managed to cover 20 miles a day.
The experience thus far has been amazing. People have been extremely helpful and friendly. Many people ask what I’m doing with such a huge backpack, so I explain what I’m doing. I have even met a couple people biking across America.
Yesterday while walking down route 31 to Somerset, I greeted a man whose house I was walking past and he said, “hi Dan Knabb.” Word of my travel is spreading and I hope that more strangers will come and talk to me, or even walk with me.
Tomorrow I will leave for Pittsburgh which will take 3 days to get there. Hopefully I will be able to perform some stand-up when I get there. It has been close to 2 months since I’ve performed, but walking has given me new material that I’m excited to try out.
I have lots of great video to share, but no way to upload it. It would be nice if I could get some clips up while still on the road.
It is hard to say when I will be able to update again, hopefully soon.
